Election Procedures and Filing Deadlines
Heather Glen Community Services District is governed by an elected Board of Directors. Board members are elected by the registered voters of the District and serve staggered four-year terms, unless appointed or elected to fill a vacancy for the remainder of an unexpired term.
District elections are conducted in coordination with the Placer County Elections Office and are held in accordance with applicable California law, including the California Elections Code and the Uniform District Election Law.
Regular Board Elections
Regular elections for seats on the Heather Glen Community Services District Board of Directors are generally held with the statewide general election in November of even-numbered years, unless otherwise required by law.
The Placer County Elections Office administers candidate filing, nomination documents, ballot materials, election calendars, and other election-related requirements for District elections.
Candidate Eligibility
Individuals interested in running for the Board of Directors must meet the eligibility requirements applicable to the District and the office sought. Candidates are generally required to be registered voters residing within the District, unless otherwise provided by law.

Candidate Filing Deadlines

For regularly scheduled local elections, the candidate filing period typically opens 113 days before Election Day and closes 88 days before Election Day. If an eligible incumbent does not file by the regular deadline, the filing period may be extended as provided by law.

Candidate Statements
Candidates for nonpartisan local office may be permitted to submit a candidate statement in accordance with California law and Placer County Elections Office procedures. Candidate statement rules, word limits, formatting requirements, filing deadlines, and any applicable costs are administered by the County Elections Office.
Board Vacancies
If a vacancy occurs on the Board of Directors, the District will fill the vacancy in accordance with applicable California law. Depending on the circumstances and timing of the vacancy, the vacancy may be filled by appointment or by election.
